Forgive Yourself of Your Mistakes

I am one of those people that has a hard time forgiving myself for making mistakes. I have improved over the years only by Gods grace. Much of the mistakes I have a difficult time forgiving are financial mistakes. Making record keeping errors can cost the family money so I have always felt very badly when that happens.

The problem with dwelling on your mistakes is that it is not productive. Blaming yourself doesn’t make the mistake go away or even make you feel better about it. I am still working on forgiving myself but it’s not always easy. I recently made one of those financial mistakes and I just felt awful about it. But I think God is teaching me to forgive myself because the guilt didn’t last long. As long as my goal is to learn from my mistakes instead of dwelling on them I can be productive by learning from them.

Dwelling for any reason keeps you from staying focussed. Learning from the errors in your life will make you a more productive person.
