meettherobinsons.jpgI just watched the movie Meet the Robinsons  with my kids and it is now on my favorite movie list. The movie had a message that rings true in the lives of many people. I believe the fear of failure is what keeps most from successfully reaching their dreams. This movie not only encouraged me to overcome this fear of failure but also to embrace the failures that do happen.

Luis is a 12 year old orphan and an extremely gifted inventor. He hasn’t yet made anything that really works until he invented a device that will allow him to see his mother on the day his she dropped him at the doorstep of the orphanage when he was a baby.  Through a serious of events his device is stolen he ends up in the future where he meets the Robinsons. The Robinsons are not like any people he has ever met. They are strange but they are also very loving and encourage him to “keep moving forward” when he is faced with failure.

There is much more to the movie but I don’t want to give it away. Movies like this always seem to allow me to put things in perspective. There are many areas of my life where the fear of failure attempts to paralyze any further moving forward. The longer I am paralyzed the hard it becomes to overcome the fear. When we are talking about gaining control of a situation that is out of control, like with our finances sometimes fear can keep us from moving forward.

It’s important to move forward when any progress is desired. How can we just sit and hope all will be well with our financial situation. We must take steps to change our behavior (spending habits, management of money, etc) and not let the fear of failure keep us from moving forward.

Well done Disney! This movie was a refreshing change from the pointless plots of so many movies out there today. This is one movie I encourage my children to watch because it teaches important life lessons through entertainment.

I am trying earn the title of the Queen of Social Network. I might be crazy but you can read about it on my other blog - iwebis.
