Quotes That Make You Think

My teenage daughter likes to search for interesting quotes on the internet and read them to me. She was doing this the other day and came across some really good ones on various topics. It is interesting how a quote can sum up an entire thought. I decided to do my own search for quotes on success.

Whether we are speaking of success with finances, building a business or overcoming something the basic truths are the same. In order to be successful we need to expect failure and be able to embrace that failure by learning from it. We need to persevere and “keep moving forward”. Here are some quotes that sum up what it takes to achieve success.

“If at first you do succeed — try to hide your astonishment.”
Harry F. Bank

“Success is not a matter of desire, but the product of hard work.”
Jack Barringer

“I have learned that success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed.”
Booker T. Washington

“Success seems to be largely a matter of hanging on after others have let go.”
William Feather

Hey Mona, tell your daughter Mr. Lindsey said thanks for using his Tuskegee University founder’s quote. She’s obviously a smart girl and you and dad are raising her right (big grin).

If you want to give her some really inspiring reading on the life of Booker T. Washington have her read “Up From Slavery”. It’s required reading for freshman orientation at Skegee as we lovingly call it.

It’s not a bad recommendation for your readers either. It ties in well to your blog for Dr. Washington’s application of pulling oneslelf up by the bootstraps to improve your lot in life economically.

Interesting how the things that truly matter over time never really change. Booker T. was pretty much saying in the 19th century what Dave Ramsey has been saying in the late 20th and early 21st.

That’s my segue for the weekend. Have a great one.

That quote is my favorite out of the ones I listed. Thanks for stopping by and I hope all is well with you and yours.
