One of the things I liked most about Financial Peace University (FPU) was the lesson on bargains (Buying, Big, Big Bargains). I am one of those people that really works at finding sales but I never thought that just by using cash I would be able to get discounts.

I have used the “cash bargain” technique a number of times now and each time I am thrilled at the results. For some reason people see cash as a different kind of money. It’s tangible, it doesn’t acquire fees (like credit card purchases). So I suppose I understand the appeal of receiving cash for a sale.

My husband and I have saved a few hundred dollars on auto repairs and appliance repairs by just using cash. For these types of bargains we didn’t have to have the power to walk away. We still got discounts just because we asked. As Dave says in the video lesson, there are times you have to be serious about getting bargain. You have to be able to have that walk away power.
