Finally Going On Vacation!!!

We are finally going on vacation. It’s been two years since we had a vacation. The main reason we have not gone on vacation sooner is because of our financial situation. We just could not afford a vacation and if it weren’t for the fact most of this vacation is free we wouldn’t be going this year either.

I don’t know how many posts I have written in the past two years about “vacation dreams”. I didn’t think it was going to be possible to go on vacation any time soon.  It really seems hard to believe that we will ever get out of this financial mess. Some days are harder than others. Some days I can see an end and other days I can’t.

Though things are much better than they were a few years ago we still have a long way to go. Even though it gets hard at times I still have to believe that as long as we continue to take actions steps to change behavior and continue to take steps forward we will succeed with our goal of gaining financial freedom.

So this vacation I am going to enjoy myself because I am not sure when another will come along. I hope to get some posts pre-written and published them throughout the next two weeks but if I don’t please understand that I am on a much needed vacation.

Vacation Budget Planning - Task 1

We have 17 days until vacation and I guess I should be making some plans. I probably should have started these plans weeks ago but it’s been busy lately. So the first task of my vacation budget planning will be to make a list of all the planned expenses. I love making lists so this part will be easy. Since we are on a tight budget I will have keep track of all spending. More on our vacation budget planning coming soon.

Time Management - Summer Time Organization

As I have said before I believe that time management is a very important part of financial management. If we don’t have control over how we spend our time we are probably going to loose control of managing our finances. This is a sad truth I had to learn recently and I have vowed to never let the mistakes I made to never happen again. What it really takes is having an intentional plan ahead mindset rather than a reactionary one.

So many times we loose track of time and end up forgetting some very important things that will keep us on track. This all has to do with having good time management. This summer my goal is to work on my time management. I plan to make a schedule I can stick to that allows me time for things that are good for my soul. Last year I got so caught up in trying to make money the whole summer ended up going by with me stuck to the computer. I will not let that happen again.  My making money efforts were to help the family but it was really hurting the family because I was a bit obsessed with it.

By scheduling my time better I will be more effective in every area of my life. So this summer I will be working on Time Management.

Taking Action Steps To Change Behavior

I think it easy for us to say that we can’t change. This is true for people who are bad at handling money, eat too much, spend to much money or those trying to kick and addictive habit. I am not hear to say that some things aren’t harder for others but isn’t it true that we all have to take the same steps to change.

We can’t just sit and hope life will change for us. I do believe that the power of change will come from our creator but the decision to change must come from us.  Change is difficult but when we finally come to the realization that change IS necessary then we must take action steps to allow it to happen.

The inspiration of this post comes from my recent financial mistake. I was very, very upset with myself for being so careless. Instead of wallow in self pity for ever, I decided to take action steps to not let it happen again. This post is one of those action steps. Blogging is a type of therapy for me. I often write about things that I am dealing with to help direct my thoughts in the right direction. I also decided to post lists of my responsibilities all over my house so I would be reminded regularly about what it is I should keep on top of. “Finances and Bills to be Paid” is at the top of the list.
