About a year ago our family was going deeper into debt everyday. We did not have a good handle on our money and we were worried about making ends meet. I am not here to tell you that our life has changed so much that we have millions in the bank. I am however going to tell you that our lives have completely been changed by what we learned from Dave Ramsey.
I really think the most change came about because of timing. My husband and I had been married for 14 years and through out our entire marriage we were always just getting by. Never really having any money in the savings or to do extra things. Like most newly weds we quickly got into debt and have been that way ever since. I was at the point of being completely sick and tired of the same debt story.
One day I was talking to my sister and she mention a man named Dave Ramsey and his book The Total Money Makeover. I was immediately interested when she said she had learned a lot from this book and recommend I read it. Because our situation was a bit desperate I went to Barnes and Noble as quickly as possible to buy the book. I read the book in a think a day or two and it was one of the best books I have ever read. The information I learned was practical and life changing. My husband started to read the book after me and we quickly started implementing his advice. We have not borrow any money for almost a year. This is quite an accomplishment for us.
The information he provides is nothing new. Many financial counselors have been teaching these principles for many years. But the way Dave Ramsey presents it is much different. He is straight forward and since he has experienced being broke he knows all the excuses that come up. If you are willing to change your habits and be teachable you will learn so much from what he has to say.
Our goal was never to become a millionaires (although now I do know how it can be done), we just want to live a life without constant worry about how we are going to pay this months bills. I created this blog to help others learn what we have about getting out of debt. I highly recommend reading Dave Ramsey’s book
The Total Money Makeover and take the first steps to gaining financial freedom.
My plan is to post more about Dave Ramsey’s financial tips in posts to come. So stay tuned and remember “stop borrowing moneyâ€. This is the first step to gain financial freedom.
